THE ROOM'S SIGNATURE FURNITURE - THE FRANCE CHAIR
The France Chair, from which the room takes its name, was first manufactured in 1956. Finn Juhl designed the chair which was produced by the biggest danish furniture manucturer of its time; France & Son.
The France Chair, or the FJ 136 as it is also known, was designed for the American market in the late 1950s. It was originally delivered flat-packed as knock-down furniture, which was France’s business idea and the main driver for his phenomenal success on the American market.
Today, however, the chair is delivered fully assembled. The chair is available in oak, smoked oak, walnut, beech and black painted with handsewn upholstery in fabric or leather.
THE HAKUBA HOTEL
The small town of Hakuba, located in a valley surrounded by the Japanese alps, houses a lodge, that has now been transformed into a beautiful Danish/ Japanese design hotel.
Everywhere the hotel exudes a sense of downplayed elegance - from the soft bedlinen and organic toiletries to the cosy lighting.
